Ferris to raise issue of rat infestation in Cork school

21 January, 2008

Kerry North Sinn Féin TD Martin Ferris is to raise the issue of rat infestation at Rahan National School, Mallow. In response to representations from people in the area, Deputy Ferris has tabled a number of questions to Minister Hanafin, requesting that she take immediate action to replace the pre-fabs in question.

Deputy Ferris said, "It is disgraceful that children and teachers should have to spend their school time in such atrocious conditions. And it is a sad commentary on the priorities of this Government that action has not already been taken to replace the rat infested pre fabricated structures with proper classrooms. Particularly given that this has been an issue going back 25 years.

"I have tabled questions to the Minister on this issue and requesting that the Minister take immediate action to address this appalling situation." ENDS
