Foster should admit defeat on Causeway Visitors Centre
North Antrim Sinn Féin MLA Daithí McKay has called on the Environment Minister to make a final decision on the Private Sector application for a Visitors' Centre at the Giant's Causeway.
Mr McKay said:
"It now appears that the private application for a Visitors' Centre at the Giant's Causeway has run into difficulty since the recent agreement on a public sector application between Moyle Council and the National Trust.
"Last year both Nigel Dodds and Arlene Foster agreed at a meeting prior to the Environment Minister's 'minded' statement that "private sector development of visitor facilities was more desirable". I think it is now highly unlikely that the private sector development will get the go-ahead and that a final decision should be made on the application once and for all.
"Private Sector development of the Causeway's Visitor Centre is not the way forward and I think that both the Environment Minister and the Enterprise Minister should accept defeat and move forward with the publicly funded application." ENDS
