Sinn Féin to participate in first Committees meeting between Leinster House and the Assembly
Sinn Féin Assembly members Francie Brolly and Raymond McCartney and Aengus Ó Snodaigh TD will participate in a joint meeting between Leinster House party whips and the Assembly Committee on Procedures today, Wednesday 6th February.
The three representatives will be available to the media at 11:15pm at the Kildare Street entrance to Leinster House.
Speaking before to the meeting the Sinn Féin representatives said that they would be using the joint meeting to the raise the issues of the all-Ireland parliamentary forum and northern representation.
Mr McCartney said:
"We welcome today's meeting between Leinster House Party whips and the Assembly Committee on Procedures. Sinn Féin wants to see joint meetings taking place between all Oireachtas Committees and their counterpart committees from the Assembly.
"We will be pushing for a programme of joint meetings between Oireachtas and Assembly Committees. Such a programme of joint meetings is key if cross-border co-operation and integration is to be accelerated across areas of policy such as health, physical infrastructure and job creation and if the underdevelopment of the border region is to be tackled.
"Sinn Féin will be using this meeting to discuss how progress can be made in advancing the issues of northern representation and the all-Ireland Parliamentary Forum." ENDS
