Campaign of intimidation against two gay men in the Creggan
Sinn Féin Councillor Kevin Campbell has called on the campaign of intimidation against two gay men in the Creggan area to stop immediately.
Councillor Campbell said,
"These two men are a valued part of the Creggan community and it is a disgrace that they are forced to live in fear of their lives due to a few people who disagree with their sexuality.
"These men have lived in the area for over seventeen years and although they have been the victim of homophobia before it is now got to a stage where they are considering leaving the area.
"The people of Creggan have proudly stood up against oppression of many forms before and I am calling on the local community to stand beside these two men and help protect their rights to live free from oppression from a few thugs. I will be in contact with these men to ensure that as a local representative I can do whatever possible to bring these attacks to an end." ENDS
