Ilex pledges community support
Foyle Sinn Féin MLA Martina Anderson has welcomed a commitment from Ilex Chairman Roy McNulty to fully include the community and voluntary sector in the city's planned regeneration.
"I am very grateful to Roy McNulty for taking the time this week to meet with myself and a number of representatives from the local community and voluntary sector," Ms. Anderson said.
"Mr. McNulty took a tour of the city and met with several organisations to hear first-hand about the kind of community development which has been going on at a grass roots level for years.
"I think it is extremely important that we recognise the value of that kind of work and that it is incorporated into the overall plan for Derry's regeneration.
"Mr. McNulty gave a commitment to do just that and he acknowledged that all development projects have to de designed and implemented in such a way that they secure the maximum benefit for all the people of this city.
"Mr. McNulty also pledged to continue engaging with the community and voluntary sector as well as all the other stakeholders in order to produce the kind of development which we can all support and benefit from." ENDS
