‘Stand Up for Derry’ campaign goes Nationwide
The Stand Up For Derry campaign is to be taken to a nationwide TV audience, Foyle Sinn Féin MLA Martina Anderson has revealed.
Ms. Anderson said:
"The Stand Up For Derry campaign has been building a massive momentum in the city since it was launched last year and we have been overwhelmed by the support it has received from the people of this city.
"Now, we are taking that campaign to this weekend's party Ard Fheis where we will be asking delegates to back a motion endorsing the campaign and condemning the neglect of the North West by past administrations.
"The motion will be tabled during a section of the Ard Fheis which will be televised live on RTE and I think it is important that this campaign will be brought to a national audience.
"After all, the issues we have raised as part of the campaign and the demands we are making are not exclusive to Derry.
"Poverty, deprivation and under-investment are commonplace in many areas across this island and I believe the Stand up for Derry campaign can be a template for many other areas.
"So let's stand up for Derry. But let's also stand up for Donegal. Let's stand up for the Shankill, The Falls, Ballymun and Bandon.
"Let's stand up for a better future for all." ENDS
