Speaking before the launchh of the first ever Irish language Sinn Féin cumann in Dublin, Thursday March 6th, Buswells Hotel @10.30am, Gerry Adams MP MLA has said,

"I am proud to announce this wonderful venture.

"It is clear to see that Sinn Féin is serious about the Irish language.

"Sinn Féin Irish language Cumainn/ groups shall be launched throughout the country. The first group shall be launched in Dublin, a place which has the biggest population in Ireland, a place where much work is being done for Irish medium education by parents, activists and teachers and a place where Irish language groups are developing the language with young people.

"The second cumann shall be launched in Belfast, (11 March 7.30pm, Cultúrlann) in honour of Volunteer Caoimhín Mac Brádaigh who was killed by British agents 20 years ago this week.

"Many other cumainn shall be launched throughout the year also.

"I believe young people today should become active in the language. The launch of these new cumainn is an example of this.

"Sinn Fein believes in the preservation and development of the Irish language. We urge people to become part of these groups." Críoch
