Call for urgent HSE report into Belfast building collapse
Sinn Féin MLA Paul Maskey, who is the Deputy Chairperson of the Assembly Enterprise, Trade and Investment Committee, has called for the Health and Safety Executive to urgently bring forward a report into the collapse of a six-storey office block under construction in Victoria Street, Belfast.
Mr Maskey said:
"Our first thoughts are for those workers who have been injured and I want to wish them a speedy recovery.
"However, this is a very serious incident and I would like the Health and Safety Executive to urgently bring forward a report for both the ETI Minister Nigel Dodds and for the Assembly Committee.
"Given the building going on not just in Belfast but across the North it is essential that we find out as much about what happened as possible and look to see what steps can be taken to ensure that our building sites are safe for workers, local residents and the general public." ENDS
