Sinn Féin condemn Falls Road attack

16 March, 2008

Sinn Féin Cllr. Tom Hartley, chairperson of the West Belfast District Policing Partnership has condemned an assault in the vicinity of the Falls Road which has left a man critically ill in hospital.

Cllr Hartley said:

"I want to call upon anyone with information about events last night which lead to the assault on a member of the local community to come forward to the PSNI. Those responsible for this horrific and violent attack must be brought to justice.

"Our thoughts are with the victim and his family at the time of this ordeal. There are concerns within the local community about the PSNI response to these events overnight. I share those concerns. All citizens have a right to live in peace and safety and are entitled to an effective and accountable policing service. The people of the Falls Road have the same rights and entitlements.

"Sinn Féin will be seeking an early meeting with the PSNI about these events." Críoch
