All Party Assembly Autism Working Group should help focus issues of concern – Michelle O'Neill
Sinn Féin Mid Ulster MLA Michelle O'Neill, who is vice chair of the recently formed Assembly All Party Autism Working Group, has said that the formation of the Group is a positive step in continuing to focus the many major concerns in relation to the issue.
Speaking prior to the official launch of the Group at the Assembly on Tuesday, April 1st Ms O'Neill said:
"There is wide support from across the political board for an 'Autism Act' to be introduced which should not only provide the level protections required but also give the condition the profile it deserves and raise awareness on the subject" and he continued "There is also an urgent need for the provision of proper financial and support resources. An infrastructure to deal with Autism in a caring, professional and structured way is essential."
She concluded by saying that it was essential that the Committee work as a united, cohesive and strong lobby.
"Along with party colleague Cathal Boylan I will endeavour to continue to highlight the many concerns brought to us by all those affected by autism." ENDS
