de Brún to host disability rights delegation in European Parliament

Sinn Féin MEP, Bairbre de Brún today met with representatives of Disability Action at their Belfast headquarters to discuss sponsoring a delegation from the REAL Network of Disabled Human Rights Activists the European Parliament in Brussels.

Speaking after her meeting this morning Ms de Brún said:

"Disability Action's Centre on Human Rights has commenced a training programme for people with disabilities to become human rights activists. Their learning in the programme includes human rights awareness and understanding how local government and the European Parliament works.

"The group on the training programme are very passionate about getting their human rights secured here in the North and would like to learn more about how lobbying works at EU level." ENDS
