Ó Donnghaile welcomes move against drugs in Short Strand

7 April, 2008

Speaking after £350,000 worth of cannabis resin was seized from a car passing through the Short Strand area; Sinn Féin's East Belfast Representative Niall Ó Donnghaile has welcomed the move.

He said,

"Any move against tackling the drug problem in this area is long overdue but nonetheless should be welcomed. Drugs are becoming a growing concern in this area and one which Sinn Féin as well as members of community has raised with the PSNI on a number of occasions through the mechanism of the East Belfast DPP."

"I was in the area yesterday when this incident took place and I hope this is an indication of the PSNI starting to take the concerns of this community regarding the growing drug problem seriously." Críoch
