Doherty voices disappointment at McGimpsey’s ‘NO INQUIRY’ decision

17 April, 2008

West Tyrone MP, MLA Pat Doherty said that he is disappointed at the decision by Health Minister, Michael McGimpsey's refusal to instigate a public inquiry into the causes of multiple injuries caused after death to the body of Strabane mother, Maureen McGinley.

The West Tyrone MP said:

"I will be discussing with the family the course of action that they now choose to take and I can assure them of my full support for whatever that action may be.

"It is an intolerable situation where a family is denied the right to find out how their mother's body was treated in such a manner following death that it resulted in multiple fractures to her body.

"I will also be talking to my Party colleague, Michelle O'Neill who is vice-Chair of the Assembly Health Committee to lobby the Committee's support for the family." ENDS
