22 April, 2008

Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams MP MLA commenting today on the situation around the Victims and Survivors legislation has said that Sinn Féin's intention is to see the Victims and Survivors Commission fully up and running in the immediate time ahead.

Mr Adams said:

"Sinn Féin's intention is to see the Victims and Survivors Commission fully up and running in the immediate time ahead.

"Sinn Féin and the DUP are engaged in intense discussions and these will continue.

"The issue of victims and survivors is a sensitive and emotive one which requires urgent attention.

"I have met many victims' families at the current round of Townhall meetings and I am very conscious of the issues involved for all the people who have suffered in the course of the conflict.

"Sinn Féin hopes to see this issue sorted out in the coming days." ENDS
