Maximise co-ordination to harness Strabane’s job creation potential - Doherty
Sinn Féin West Tyrone MP Pat Doherty says that there is a now a palpable sense of confidence that Strabane has turned the corner economically and has called for maximum co-operation and co-ordination amongst all stakeholders in the local community to ensure that the many potential opportunities for investment and job creation that now exist are fully harnessed.
The local MP was speaking after attending a business lunch organised by the local Chamber of Commerce and Industry last week at which First Minister Ian Paisley was among the invited guests.
Mr Doherty said:
"I would firstly like to commend the local Chamber of Commerce and Industry for this initiative. The announcement that the town could be in line for another substantial investment with the envisaged creation of an additional 100 jobs is a further vote of confidence in the area and a further indication that Strabane District has turned the corner economically.
"Much sterling work is going on behind the scenes involving Council, Strabane 2000, the community sector, local politicians and the Chamber of Commerce to bring investment and job creation projects like this and others to fruition.
"There is now an unparalleled focus on delivering investment and jobs for the area and I would call upon all stakeholders in this endeavour to maximize co-operation and co-ordination to ensure that the many potential opportunities that now exist are fully harnessed." ENDS
