Tourist Board fails to put Lough Neagh on the map - Francie Molloy MLA

29 April, 2008

Sinn Féin MLA for Mid-Ulster, Francie Molloy has praised the work of the Lough Neagh Partnership but expressed disappointment at the failure of the Tourist Board to recognise the potential of Lough Neagh as well as the Sperrins.

Speaking after the launch of the 'Discover Lough Neagh Brand' Mr Molloy said:

"I am very impressed with the initiatives taken by the Partnership, such as the fishing strategy and the opening of the new walkway and also the support they have provided to local community groups who are also working towards the promotion of Ireland's largest freshwater lake.

"I am however very disappointed to discover that the Tourist Board have failed to recognise the potential of Lough Neagh as well as the Sperrins.

"The Lough is one of the most recognizable spots on the map of Ireland and yet does not feature in any of the Tourist Boards promotions." ENDS
