First Source Job Announcement
Sinn Féin MLA Martina Anderson has said that the creation of 334 new jobs at First Source Contact Centre is a welcome boost to the local economy.
Ms Anderson said,
"The decision by First Source to locate 334 new jobs at its Derry branch is not only a boost to the local economy but also a vote of confidence in the existing staff and management of the current centre. Derry has a highly motivated and skilled pool of people willing to be engaged in meaningful employment and I hope this decision today will encourage other IT companies to set up bases in the North West.
"At a time when the economy is shrinking this news will add confidence in the North West and coming on the back of the news of the new jobs being created by the Public Prosecution Service it proves that with the right approach we can create employment in the region.
"These new announcement is backed to the tune of £6.7 million by Invest Northern Ireland (INI) and this also has to be welcomed. The Stand Up for Derry campaign was designed to ensure that agencies like INI gave Derry and the North West equal treatment when it comes to investment and attracting new businesses and today's announcement highlights the fact that this campaign can succeed if everyone gets behind it."
