Concern at report of exclusion ethnic minorities from Investment Conference venue

6 May, 2008

Sinn Féin spokesperson on Ethnic Minorities, West Belfast MLA Jennifer McCann has expressed concern at reports that ethnic minority workers have been moved from positions at the venue of the US Investment Conference.

Ms McCann said:

"The decision to take ethnic minority staff from duties relating to the US Investment Conference would be deeply regrettable. It would be a step backwards.

"The conference must be about investing in our future and tackling inequality. This includes dealing with exclusion and discrimination in our society.

"Hopefully the conference organisers and the Cullodon Hotel will assess this situation and allow all staff to return to their normal duties." ENDS
