MLA comments on latest road fatality

8 May, 2008

Cathal Boylan, Sinn Féin Road Safety spokesperson has offered his and his party's condolences to the latest victim to be claimed in a road traffic accident on the road between Scarva and Poyntzpass in the assembly members own constituency.

Mr Boylan said:

"This brings the number of people killed this year on our roads to 34.

"It is significantly down on the previous two years for the same period, which is welcome, but it that statistic does little to ease the pain and suffering felt by those who are left behind.

"I would like to offer my deepest sympathy to the family and friends of the bereaved, and urge once again for all road users, motorists, cyclists and pedestrians to take extra care in order to avoid more families and communities feeling the pain that a sudden accident can cause. I would also hope the other person injured in the accident makes a full recovery." ENDS
