Ferris calls for extension of Farm Waste Management Scheme

14 May, 2008

Speaking in the Dáil today Sinn Féin Agriculture Spokesperson Martin Ferris TD called for a debate on the need to extend for another year the Farm Waste Management Scheme which is due to finish in December 2008.

Deputy Ferris said, "We need to adjourn the House in order to debate the need to extend for another year the Farm Waste Management Scheme which is due to finish in December 2008 as many of the on farm works will not be completed in that period.

"This scheme has played a hugely important role in protecting the general environment and assisting farmers in complying with the relevant regulations. It must be extended for another year in order to ensure that all farm works are completed." ENDS
