Adams Backs Donegal Celtic
Gerry Adams MP MLA last night attended the packed public meeting in Donegal Celtic in West Belfast that was held to protest the decision by the IFA to exclude Donegal Celtic from the Invitation League.
Local MLAs and Councillors Fra McCann, Paul Butler and Paul Maskey also all attended the meeting.
Speaking after the event Mr. Adams said:
"The IFA have many serious questions to answer about the procedures it employed that led to its decision to exclude Donegal Celtic from the Invitation League. The decision is reprehensible. There is no logic in it. Donegal Celtic has proven itself worthy of playing in the Invitation League. It is a first class club with significant plans for development and a commendable outreach into the community and with young people. The IFA must immediately review its decision.
"In the meantime Sinn Fein will fully support the Cub s efforts through the courts, in the Assembly and with the DCAL Minister Edwin Poots, in the media and among IFA sponsors, to raise this issue."
