Sinn Féin to step up campaign in the final days
Sinn Féin's Director of the Lisbon Treaty referendum campaign Padraig
MacLochlainn has said that Sinn Fein's focus in the final days of the
campaign will move to what the Irish government can deliver in a
re-negotiated Treaty. Mr. MacLochlainn said:
"The Sinn Féin Ard Chomhairle is meeting in Dublin on Saturday and will be receiving reports from the canvas which has been taking place right across the country. As we enter the final days of the campaign it is clear that many people have still to make up their minds and there is still a great deal of confusion.
"We will be stepping up the campaign in the final days. Our focus will be on one key issue - it is possible for Ireland to get a better deal in Europe. We will be calling on the electorate to vote no and to give the government a strong mandate for new negotiations.
"Over the coming days we will be running ads and a series of opinion pieces in the national newspapers and producing a new poster with the slogan 'Ireland can do better'. We will be delivering the message on the doors across the country over the weekend and using social networking media such as bebo and facebook."ENDS
