Ruane officially opens Gaelscoil Ghleann Darach
Education Minister Caitríona Ruane today cut the ribbon to officially open Gaelscoil Ghleann Darach in Crumlin.
Speaking at the opening Ms Ruane said: "I would like to congratulate everyone at Gaelscoil Ghleann Darach for their hard work and dedication in realising this school. Well done to all the children on their 'graduation' from Naíscoil to Gaelscoil. This is a very special day for both them, their parents and families.
"As Minister for Education I believe in equality and that every child has the right to a quality education. This must also be afforded to those parents who choose to educate their children through the medium of Irish. I have a duty and responsibility to encourage and promote Irish Medium Education.
"I understand many of the parents who send their children to Irish speaking schools may not necessarily speak the language themselves but this has been demonstrated to have no impact on a child's learning. In fact I myself would view it as an opportunity for parents to share the experience with their child and learn Irish alongside them. The ability to speak more than one language can open up a world of new experiences, literature and culture. "
