SDLP comments about Garvaghy Road ‘foolish and dangerous’

16 June, 2008

Sinn Féin MLA John O'Dowd has said that the latest statement from Dolores Kelly's about the Drumcree march is as foolish as it is dangerous and is unbecoming to someone who claims to represent the best interest of the community in the Garvaghy Road and indeed the wider community.

Mr O'Dowd said:

"I am quite simply astonished that a public representative would issue such a statement which will only raise fears and concerns in the community based on nothing more than an SDLP wish to issue unfounded baseless assertions on a non existent deal with between Sinn Féin and the DUP.

"The SDLP offered up a Garvaghy road march to David Trimble. Sinn Féin cannot and will not be offering any community up to any Unionist leader or Loyal order." ENDS
