Sinn Féin will not support any rural planning policy that repackages PPS14
Sinn Féin Agriculture and Rural Development Spokesperson, West Tyrone MP Pat Doherty has warned the new Environment Minster Sammy Wilson that Sinn Fein will not support rural planning proposals that fall short of delivering a sustainable future for our rural communities or resembles the failed PPS14 policy of British Direct Rule Ministers.
Pat Doherty said:
"Sinn Féin led the campaign to overturn the draconian PPS14 rural planning policy brought forward by British Direct Rule Ministers.
"Sinn Féin wants a planning policy that finds the balance in protecting the environment and also ensuring the long-term sustainability of our rural communities.
"Sinn Féin will not support any rehash of the failed PPS14 policy.
"We will only support a new planning policy that delivers for everyone living and working in our rural communities.
"If the new Environment Minister Sammy Wilson brings forward proposals that fall short of what is required then Sinn Fein will not support them." ENDS
