McShane takes up Vice Chair in Moyle Council
Sinn Féin Councillor, Cara McShane, has been appointed the new Vice-Chair to Moyle District Council, at Monday's night's Annual General Meeting.
Councillor McShane, aged 26, is the youngest Councillor to have taken one of the two top posts in the history of Moyle Council.
Following the meeting, Cllr McShane said:
"I am honoured to have been nominated by my party to take up the post of Vice-Chair. I intend to use my position to work for all of the people of Moyle on a fair and equal basis. It is a particular privilege to come from Ballintoy and to represent the people of that community on this Council.
"There are many major issues facing us in Moyle, not least, rural planning, economic development and the desperate need for more social and affordable housing throughout the district.
"It is a particularly challenging time throughout the North, with the rising cost of living and with the downturn in the construction industry.
"I want to use this incoming year to build on the opportunities and potential for a better and equal future that the North's new political dispensation offers us all." ENDS
