Paul Butler comments on last night's death in West Belfast

Lagan Valley Sinn Féin MLA Paul Butler has expressed his condolences to the family of the young man killed in West Belfast last night.

Paul Butler said,

"Firstly I want to express my sympathy and that of my party to the family of the young man killed, it is a tragic and very personal loss for them.

Reports indicate that this car was stolen and engaged in death driving; this is an area that has been ravaged with car crime in the past and this sad and unnecessary incident shows very clearly the consequences for those people who choose to engage in this type of deadly behaviour.

I would make a particular plea to young people not to engage in this activity and take this as a very real and of course tragic example of why death driving is such a dangerous thing to be engaged in.

I have visited the area this morning and the Police Ombudsman's office is currently investigating what took place last night."
