News of cuts to home help will devastate many of our older people - Brady
Commenting on the news that home help services in the South Eastern Trust area will be cut from one hour a week to just fifteen minutes a week; Sinn Féin MLA, and spokesperson on older people Mickey Brady has said that this news will 'devastate' many older people who rely on this essential service.
Mr Brady said,
"This news will come as a great shock to many of our older people and their families who receive so much help and assistance as a result of home help.
I will be contacting the Minister to question the reasons behind this cut in the hope that some explanation can be given to the many hundreds of people effected and deeply concerned by this cut from one hour to just fifteen minutes.
I appreciate the work that many of our carers do, often unrecognised and I hope that these cuts will not have a detrimental effect on the care of our older people."
