Minister working on proposals to defer water rates
Sinn Féin Regional Development Minister Conor Murphy MP MLA has confirmed that he has been in discussion with the First Minister and Deputy First Minister about his proposal to defer the introduction of water rates.
The Minister for Regional Development said:
"I fully appreciate the difficulties faced by households with increasing bills. I've been in discussion with Ministerial colleagues including the First Minister and Deputy First Minister on the way forward with regard to the funding of water and sewerage services, given the current financial climate.
"My proposal throughout discussions has been for a deferral and I will take this forward in my recommendations to the Executive. These discussions will continue but I hope to conclude them shortly." ENDS
