Reg Empey should not use lack of Executive meeting as cover for his own inaction – Sue Ramsey
West Belfast Sinn Féin MLA and Chair of the Assembly's Employment and Learning committee Sue Ramsey has hit out at Employment Minister Reg Empey following his comments after the closure of the Seagate technologies factory in Limavady.
Ms Ramsey said,
"Firstly I want to send solidarity to those Seagate workers who have found themselves without work at a particularly difficult time for all of us.
Reg Empey, as Minister for Employment must not use this unfortunate incident as some sort of cover for an attack on other parties in the Executive; he is the Minster with responsibility, he must tell us what he is doing as such and must stop trying to hide his inaction on the current threat of further job losses.
The announcement regarding Seagate was made some time ago, and the Executive has indeed met since then, what Reg Empey should be telling the community and indeed the media, what he did in that timeframe to help those workers in Seagate facing unemployment."
