McGuinness- Executive meeting unlikely

30 September, 2008

Sinn Féin MP for Mid-Ulster and Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness has today outlined that there needs to be a full agenda drawn up for a Executive meeting to take place - not just and agenda with issues of concern to the unionist community or the DUP on it. Without this an Executive meeting is unlikely.

Speaking earlier Mr McGuinness said:

"In the course of recent days we have been engaged in a number of discussions with the DUP aimed at agreeing an agenda for an executive meeting on Thursday.

"Agreeing an agenda means that all issues of concern need to be put on the agenda - not simply those of concern to the unionist community or the DUP.

"Despite our efforts this has not succeeded and no progress has been made.

"Therefore I see no basis for an Executive meeting going ahead this week ." Críoch
