“Resolve the pay claim of Education Welfare Officers without further delay.” – O’Dowd
Sinn Féin Education spokesperson John O' Dowd has called on the Education Boards Chief Executive to resolve the pay claim of Education Welfare Officers without further delay.
Mr O Dowd said
"It is my understanding that the Department of Education has informed the Boards on a number of occasions of its willingness to consider a business case aimed towards settlement of the dispute.
"The business case has now been forwarded, however the delay in the Chief Executive forwarding a Business case to the department of Education to cover the required increase in finance needed to cover a pay deal for the Education Welfare officers is unacceptable. And in my view has led to a break down in industrial relations between the Boards who are the employers and the Unions.
"I hope the dispute can now be settled quickly and the EWOs are properly rewarded for the excellent work they carryout." CRÍOCH
