Sammy Wilson must face up to reality of human impact on climate change – Boylan

15 October, 2008

Speaking after yesterday's motion in the Assembly which read,

"That this Assembly expresses concern that the Minister of the Environment continues to ignore the mounting evidence that climate change is a significant issue"

Sinn Féin's Environment spokesperson Cathal Boylan MLA has said that Sammy Wilson must face up to the realities of climate change and play his part in minimizing mankind's impact upon contributing to global warming.

Mr Boylan said,

"The Minister of the Environment has made that ministry the laughing stock of Europe, if not the world. Most people who have a detailed knowledge of the issue of climate change will agree that the Minister's attitude is a joke. However, it should not be treated as such because, in years to come, its consequences will prove to be costly.

Other Governments are getting to grips with climate change and showing leadership on the issue, Sammy Wilson must do the same!" CRÍOCH
