Sinn Féin meets with PSNI on south Belfast attacks
Sinn Féin south Belfast MLA and Policing Board member Alex Maskey will today join with party colleague and Belfast DPP member, Councillor Tierna Cunningham in meeting with senior PSNI members in relation to growing concerns regarding an increase in attacks in the south of the City.
Speaking ahead of the meeting Alex Maskey said,
"Following the latest attacks in the south of the city I committed myself to engaging with the PSNI to highlight my concerns and those of the constituency but also to discuss what we need to do collectively to tackle these issues head on. Patterns are beginning to emerge and the PSNI must utilise their resources to effectively deal with crime patterns throughout this part of Belfast.
"What we need to see are effective resources allocated correctly in order to help reassure citizens of their safety while in the city centre and also build on important work and initiatives already being carried out by the PSNI and other statutory agencies. Community safety is an issue of paramount concern for people right across our community and we must do our utmost to make Belfast a safer city for everyone." CRÍOCH
