Fire station robbery represents a new low says Bray Councillor

18 October, 2008

A local Councillor in Bray has described as despicable and outrageous a robbery at the town's fire station last night which took place while firemen were responding to an emergency call. Sinn Féin's John Brady urged anybody with information about the robbery to bring it forward to the gardai or their local representatives as a matter of urgency.

Councillor Brady has been made aware that the personal property including the wallets of firemen were taken during the break-in. Also taken were sets of car keys which were used to steal a number of cars from the station.

Councillor Brady said, "This is a despicable and outrageous act. To think that while firemen are out risking their lives on behalf of their community you have scumbags breaking into the fire station and stealing their belongings is beyond belief or comprehension. Coming as it does just one year after two of our firemen lost their lives in the line of duty is represents a very new low."

Councillor Brady urged anybody that may have information on this robbery to bring it forward to the Gardai or their local representatives as soon as possible so that the perpetrators would be caught and brought to justice. He also called for a review of security at the fire station in light of the incident.
