Sinn Féin's Education Minister Tells Newry Public that "Educational Excellence for All" is the future
Sinn Féin's Caitríona Ruane MLA yesterday addressed the people of Newry at a public meeting in Newry Town Hall. The Education Minister answered questions for over two hours from parents, teachers and other interested parties about the changes in the education system, the revised curriculum and Sinn Féin's vision of "Educational Excellence for all".
Speaking after the Event Caitríona Ruane said,
"I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone that came to Newry Town Hall and engaged in this very positive meeting. This is part of a process of engaging personally with the public on a six county wide basis."
Local councillor Brendan Curran chaired the meeting and also welcomed the successful event.
Mr. Curran said,
"Caitríona should be commended for addressing the public in such a manner. What other Minister would have the confidence in their beliefs to sit in front of the public knowing that they could address any question put forward to them?"
Mickey Brady, who was also present at the meeting, said,
"I feel that most people are supportive of Caitríona's proposals, certainly the majority of educationalists present were fully in favour of what Caitríona is doing."
"It speaks volumes that Sinn Féin's opponents who had a perfect opportunity to come and attack a Sinn Féin Minister did not even show up last night." ENDS
