Today's meeting of the AERC should have went ahead – Sinn Fein

4 November, 2008 - by John O'Dowd

Sinn Fein MLA and Assembly Group leader John O'Dowd, commenting on todays Assembly and Executive Review Committee meeting which the DUP cancelled said,

"Today's meeting of the AERC should have gone ahead.

"This AERC process was put in place to resolve issues around policing and justice. There is a considerable amount of work for the AERC to be getting on with. Sinn Féin were quite prepared to attend today's meeting and clarify or discuss any issue with the other committee members.

"The decision to cancel today's meeting is a political one, taken by the DUP. it is further evidence of stalling from the party instead of moving ahead with the serious business of delivering on obligations flowing from the St. Andrews Agreement." CRÍOCH
