6 November, 2008 - by Maeve McLaughlin

Sinn Féin MLA for Foyle and member of the Policing Board, Martina Anderson, has welcomed Ian Paisleys apology in regards to remarks that Ms Anderson should be tasered which he made at the DUP's party conference.

Speaking after today's Policing Board meeting Ms Anderson said:

"The remarks made by Ian Paisley Jnr at the DUP's party conference in regards to myself were widely reported on. I was very clear that such comments were totally unacceptable and I had made a complaint to the Policing Board on the issue.

"At the Policing Board meeting Mr Paisley was quite upfront in giving a very clear and unambiguous apology of which I accept. Certainly the comments and their outworkings have, in my opinion, been addressed now to my satisfaction."
