Kelly recognises role of Interface workers

6 November, 2008 - by Gerry Kelly

Sinn Féin Junior Minister Gerry Kelly MLA along with Jeffrey Donaldson today recognised the contribution of the voluntary, community and youth sectors in achieving a peaceful summer.

Speaking at a special reception in Parliament Buildings the Ministers expressed their appreciation for the hard work carried out at various interface points throughout Belfast.

Mr Kelly said:

"It is imperative that government recognises the work being undertaken on our streets day in day out which is making a difference to people's lives and their life chances. Their work is very often behind the scenes and away from the glare of publicity.

"The leadership they provide to their communities and the resilience they display in the face of very difficult situations is essential in repairing fractured relationships and building new ones." ENDS
