Sinn Féin call for support for 'Time to Deliver' rally

18 November, 2008 - by Sue Ramsey

Sinn Fein MLA Sue Ramsey has called on everyone to show their support for the 'Time to Deliver' rally being held tomorrow, Wednesday the 19th November at 11am at Stormont.
Speaking ahead of the event Ms Ramsey said:
"This is an opportunity to highlight that the current situation with regards facilities at the Royal Hospital are wholly inadequate.
"This campaign has been a long and ongoing one to see a new regional hospital for women and children at the Royal Hospital now in its 14th year. The Jubilee Maternity Hospital and the Royal Maternity Hospital were amalgamated soon afterwards, and a new hospital was to follow. This new build has not happened.
"Excuses that there is no money available do not wash. Commitments were given under British direct rule that a new build would commence and that £300 million would be allocated for this. Where has this money gone?
"The Health Minister, Michael McGimpsey, must prioritise this development without delay. For patients to wait any longer is unacceptable."
