“Questions must be asked of FSA response” – Pat Doherty
Sinn Féin MP and Agricultural spokesperson Pat Doherty has expressed concern about the co-ordination of communication from the Food Standards Agency to the relevant Government departments following news of potential contamination to farm produce in the North.
Speaking this morning Mr Doherty said,
"There are real concerns that the FSA may have dropped the ball when it came to communication in relation to the issue of contaminated produce.
"The reality is that the FSA is a body that operates as an advisory group; it has a responsibility to protect consumers and to keep the relevant Government departments as informed as promptly and as comprehensively as possible.
"There is the possible danger here that FSA is focusing more on looking towards it's responsibilities in London than it is to the people here in the North of Ireland."
