Ferris welcomes meeting of agriculture Ministers
Sinn Féin Agriculture Spokesperson Martin Ferris TD has welcomed a meeting between the North's Agriculture Minister Michelle Gildernew and the Minister in the South Brendan Smith to discuss the issues arising out of the contaminated animal feed crisis.
Deputy Ferris said, "The crisis of the past week has sent alarm bells ringing throughout Europe and the rest of the International community. It is crucial therefore that the message goes out loud and clear from Ireland that Irish produce is safe.
"In that context I welcome today's meeting of the two agriculture Ministers on the island and I urge them to work together to retain Ireland's image as a quality producer." ENDS
