Sinn Féin to meet DETI officials on rural broadband availability
Sinn Fein Councillor and Vice-Chair of Moyle Council, Cara McShane will today (Tuesday) meet with DETI officials on plans for availability of Broadband services within rural areas of North Antrim.
Speaking ahead of the meeting Councillor McShane said,
"Access to broadband in rural areas is of vital importance on many levels; in particular it is an asset to our local schools for educational purposes. It is also of vital importance to our growing tourism industry.
"At present satellite services are not sufficient; conventional cable broadband is much more suited to rural areas, as well as being more effective and economically viable.
"Sinn Féin has been lobbying on this issue for some time; recently Cllr Brenda Chivers held a public meeting with OFFCOM and BT in Drumsurn and today's meeting with DETI is a continuation of our lobbying for effective rural broadband provision."
