Local community shocked at West Belfast bar attack. – Sinn Féin
Sinn Féin Councillor for West Belfast, Marie Cush, has stated that the local community are shocked at the attack on in O'Connors bar on the Falls Road. The attack happened last night and it is believed that those responsible travelled into West Belfast to carry out the attack.
Speaking today Ms Cush said:
"This attack was nothing less than brutal and savage and has left the local community shocked. There is a strong sense of revulsion that something like this would happen in the area.
"We have been in touch with the PSNI and the information they are giving us is that this incident started in a city centre bar and that those responsible travelled into West Belfast to commit this attack.
"This is a criminal gang who are not afraid of being able to enter a bar anywhere in the city armed with knives, machetes and hatchets. The sooner they, and their weapons, are removed from the streets of Belfast the better.
"Sinn Féin would urge anyone with information surrounding the attack, or the previous incidents in the city centre, to bring it forward to the PSNI."
