Attempted House Raid condemned -Boylan

18 January, 2009 - by Cathal Boylan

Sinn Féin MLA, Cathal Boylan, has unreservedly condemned those responsible for an attempted raid on a house on the outskirts of Armagh.

The Assembly member, who lives a few miles away from the scene in Keady, commented;

'Two raiders tried to gain entry to the house on Saturday evening, fortunately the male occupant was able to resist them and force them from the premises. While making their escape they dropped their weapons and rammed a police patrol which came upon them.'

'Having spoken to the family who were attacked, this was obviously a frightening experience for the people who were in the house, unfortunately, there seems to be an increase in similar crimes taking place over the last few months. I would urge people to look out for their friends and neighbours, especially in quiet rural areas.'

'I would ask that anyone with information about this particular incident to pass on those details to the PSNI or through another source they feel comfortable with, it is the only way we are going to eradicate this criminal behaviour from our communities.'
