Bray Nursing Home set to close amid health and safety concerns - Brady
Bray Sinn Féin Councillor John Brady, reacting to news today that The Orchard Nursing Home in Bray is to be closed amid health and safety concerns for the building, said there are serious questions to be answered about how the building was allowed to continue operating in such conditions.
Councillor Brady said today, "The HSE run Orchard Nursing Home in Bray is set to close after a fire safety assessment on the building. The HSE now needs to act quickly to find new, safe and suitable places for the residents of the home.
"A fire safety assessment took place on the building in December and the report passed on to management in January and at 8am this morning staff were informed that the home is to be closed down.
"Serious questions also need to be answered about how the building was allowed to continue operating in such conditions, has the building obtained an annual fire safety certificate in recent years and if so where did it come from?
"There needs to be accountability for the negligence that has led to this distressful situation for the residents of this nursing home and their families. I will be following this case up with my party colleagues in the Dáil with a view to getting answers to these very pertinent questions." ENDS
