Over 3,000 schools pupils face disruption due to bomb scare
Sinn Féin MLA Paul Maskey has slammed those responsible for causing a bomb scare that has seen several schools on the Glen road facing disruption due to a suspect package left outside Christian Brothers School in West Belfast.
Speaking from the scene Mr Maskey said:
“This is now the fifth day of bomb scares and disruption to West Belfast. Today we have already seen the Stewartstown Road sealed off due to a hoax bomb being left at a garage there, and now several schools face disruption due to a bomb scare on the Glen Road.
“Along this stretch of road we have St Mary’s CBGS, CBS and La Salle secondary schools, and St Theresa’s Primary school. Taken together that’s over 3,000 school pupils who face disruption.
“Whoever is behind this bomb scare I’m sure is well aware that they are upsetting our children’s education along with the communities that live around the schools. They need to stop now and realise that nobody wants this kind of activity. It serves no purpose and will not advance anything.”
