Failures of Workplace 2010 cannot be repeated
Sinn Féin MLA and economy spokesperson, Mitchel McLaughlin, has stated that the failures of Workplace 2010 cannot be repeated and that following the schemes collapse we now must focus on the decentralisation of civil service accommodation as a stimulus to areas of social and economic need.
Speaking today Mr McLaughlin said:
“There are a number of issues surrounding the collapse of Workplace 2010 all of which should be disclosed so that the failures of this scheme will not be repeated.
“In all it is very clear that improper vigilance and oversight resulted in a loss of up to £13m of public money, something that cannot be allowed to happen again.
“Now that Workplace 2010 has been abandoned we now must refocus on the decentralisation of the civil service and their accommodation needs.
“Sinn Féin would now like to see this moving forward in order to modernise the civil service, provide greater access and indeed target and provide stimulus to areas of social and economic needs.”
