Ó Snodaigh calls on Minister to re-iterate commitment to 16 Moore Street

22 April, 2009 - by Aengus Ó Snodaigh TD

Speaking in the Dáil today Dublin Sinn Féin TD Aengus Ó Snodaigh called on the Minister for Justice Dermot Ahern to re-iterate his commitment to the preservation of the final resting place of the leaders of the 1916 Rising in light of the fact that the proposed developer of the site is part of the alleged ‘Golden Circle’ whose affairs with Anglo Irish Bank are under investigation by An Garda Síochána.

Deputy Ó Snodaigh said, "In view of the likelihood of lengthy legal proceedings arising from the ongoing investigation by An Garda Síochána into the affairs of Anglo Irish Bank and an alleged 'Golden Circle' including the proposed developer of the so called 'Carlton Site' in Dublin, will the Minister re-iterate his commitment to the preservation and security of the designated National monument at No.’s 14 to 17 Moore Street."
