Green Party just as responsible as Fianna Fáil for Economic Crisis

7 May, 2009 - by Pat Sheehan

Speaking this morning from Dublin Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams said that Eamon Ryan’s attempts to distance the Greens from their partners in government is an act of desperation that will convince nobody.

Mr. Adams said:

“The Green Party is in government therefore they are just as responsible as Fianna Fáil for the state of the economy and the unjust cutbacks that are taking place. One of the main reasons why the recession is hitting this state harder is because of government mismanagement.

“The Green Party will be going before the electorate on June 5th and will have to answer for the fact that unemployment has risen by almost 200,000 since they went into government, for monies not being made available for a cervical screening programme for young girls, for the fact that class sizes are increasing and special needs assistants are being withdrawn and for a whole range of decisions that will drive the economy further into recession.

“Eamon Ryan’s attempt to distance the Greens from their partners in government is an act of desperation that will convince nobody.” ENDS
